Skydata utilizes Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL langauges, which forms the core foundation of the BI tools we use. SQL is an immensely powerful query language used to extract, modify and create data in a database. Along with this, we use SQL Server Management studio to run all our queries and programs. This enables us to easily make use of other Microsoft tools such as SSIS, SSRS and SSAS, and allows for the smooth integration of systems.
One of our most frequently used BI tools, SQL Server Integration Services is a component of SQL Server and allows for a broad range of data migration tasks to be performed. Integration services is typically used for ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) in data warehousing, and has a whole suite of powerful tools to work with data. Skydata has utilized this technology to its fullest with complex ETL programs that allows for the processing of over 7 billion records per month. In addition, Integration Services easily integrates with Powershell & Visual Basic, enabling complex automation tasks to run as part of a program directly on a Windows Platform, such as Windows Server Editions.
SQL Server Analysis Services is an datamining and OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) BI tool that enables the understanding and analysis of data from many different sources including multiple databases, disparate tables and files. There are two kinds of models used, Tabular, which acts like a traditional relational database but is stored in memory, and multidimensional which is composed of various objects like dimensions, measures, data source, aggregations, perspectives. Skydata fully utilizes SSAS technology, in conjunction with SSIS, SSAS and SSRS to provide you with a complete Business Intelligence Ecosystem for your business.
SQL Server Reporting Services is a server-based reporting solution from Microsoft which is used to deliver a variety interactive reports, generated dynamically from a database. Reporting Services is a versatile tool that can generate reports through an easy to access web portal on any device, responsive mobile reports on a mobile device and printed document reports. Skydata uses Reporting Services to create complex BI reports and to provide a convienient way for clients to filter through and extract their own data as they require. Reporting services is part of a suite of Microsoft tools, used in conjunction with SSIS and SSAS.
We develop our programs using Visual Studio, Microsoft’s popular Integrated Development Environment or (IDE) and one of the most vital BI tools. Visual Studio is used to develop software programs, websites, web applications, mobile applications and even games. Skydata uses Visual Studio to implement SSIS, SSRS and SSAS during the development phase of a project to build the relevant data services required by the client.
Visual Basic .NET is a fundimental programming language that Skydata utilitizes to create simple or complex automation tasks to run on a Windows based platform such as Windows Server. Visual Basic .NET is a multi-paradigm, object-oriented programming language by developed by Microsoft and is the successor to the original Visual Basic.
One of our most frequently used BI tools, Powershell has enabled us to solve complex Windows automation tasks in ETL programs. It is extremely versatile in Windows platforms, and we often use it alongside SQL Server Integration Services to provide functionality that SQL programming simply can’t. Powershell is as a task automation tool and configuration management framework from Microsoft that consists of a command line shell and scripting language.
We use the C Sharp programming language alongside SQL Server Integration Services to provide additional functionality within Integration Services when working with data to help solve complex problems. C Sharp is a general-purpose, multi-paradigm programming language that includes static typing, strong typing, lexically scoped, imperative, declarative, functional, generic, object-oriented, as well as component-oriented programming disciplines.
Power BI is an easy to use but extremly effective BI reporting tool developed by Microsoft that enables you to see how your business is performing and to make the right decisions based on its performance. Power BI aims to provide interactive visualizations and business intelligence capabilities with an interface simple enough for end users to generate their own reports and dashboards. It is also capable of importing data from almost any data source to create professional business reports.
